She watches those who sleep
Those with nothing to give
She gives them herself
A smile, a word
And she finds some lost inside themselves
Unable to adequately express the frustration of being trapped
In a place not of their choosing
In a place not part of their Real Life
Where they were teachers and doctors and fathers and mothers
But
this
is
their
real
life
now....

Done
Quiet, here in my room
The sun, shining in stripes and shadows through closed slats
Pressure gone, permission given to just be
So here I lay
Wondering where you've gone
And what your day holds
While I just lazily
Close my eyes
The sun, shining in stripes and shadows through closed slats
Pressure gone, permission given to just be
So here I lay
Wondering where you've gone
And what your day holds
While I just lazily
Close my eyes

Bent Heads Lifting
Dirt under my nails, pots on the shelf
Buried I these seeds and waited
And waited and waited
For the rains to slow
And the sun to shine
And the warmth to make them know
It was safe
Safe to lift their bent heads and bring green into the world
Squash, basil, tomato
Here they come, first leaves showing
And I know spring is here
Buried I these seeds and waited
And waited and waited
For the rains to slow
And the sun to shine
And the warmth to make them know
It was safe
Safe to lift their bent heads and bring green into the world
Squash, basil, tomato
Here they come, first leaves showing

Storm Coming
Winds have begun to blow in
Throwing the trees, causing the skies to howl
Sideways driving rain
And I scurry into the warmth of the house
Laden with grocery bags
Glad to be here

Sideways driving rain
And I scurry into the warmth of the house
Laden with grocery bags
Glad to be here

Serenity
I thought spending time in California would be serene.
I thought I could scrapbook, quietly unpressured
I thought sunshine would heat my bones, quiet my soul
Instead it was a hailstorm
And rain
And gray windy skies
A flurry of people
Of noise
Of action
I think it mirrored life
In the way that expectations
sometimes don't hold up
In weather, or cooking,
or people
Especially people,
others should be reasonable
use "common sense"
be normal (ie; think like me!)
But its ok
Just like life
Which has occassionally handed me that period of "in the meantime"
When I just have to believe that whats happening
Will not happen forever
And while I may not particularly enjoy "in the meantime"
I still can find some good in it
So
I softly waited out the rain
And the hail
And the gray stormy skies
Finding little bits of good all the way through
And finally am sitting here
in peaceful sunshine
At last
I thought I could scrapbook, quietly unpressured
I thought sunshine would heat my bones, quiet my soul
Instead it was a hailstorm

Early Morning
I stepped out into a chilly starfilled morning, crisp and clear. It appears I'm up for the day and planning for meetings, office organization and general paperwork. Hmmmm, sun is forecast, rain tomorrow. Best enjoy the blue sky while I can. My bath is running, and since I sometimes forget and let it run over, I pay attention to the noise of rushing water in order to keep the floor dry.
Looking
I looked all over
For the book - the one I quoted to you
And its gone
Can't remember the name
Or the shape of it
Only that it had amazing words
Worthy of repeating
I'll continue to look
And one day
When I least expect
I'll find it
And send you more words
For the book - the one I quoted to you
And its gone
Can't remember the name
Or the shape of it
Only that it had amazing words
Worthy of repeating
I'll continue to look
And one day
When I least expect
I'll find it
And send you more words

A nothing
Can't get out of my pj's
Although its almost 11am
Nothing pressing to accomplish
No deadlines to meet
Easier to climb back into bed
And sleep the morning away...
